While Christmas is upon us, locals and tourists alike should lock in plans for ringing in the New Year in style on the Picton Foreshore.
Pure Events Marlborough is bringing back the annual Marlborough District Council New Year’s Eve celebration in Picton on Wednesday, 31 December.
As one of the first countries to see the dawn of a new year, organisers are getting the party started early from 6.30pm until 12.15am with more entertainment and family-friendly activities than ever.
One of Aotearoa’s most-loved children’s entertainers Kath Bee will open the show and take up residence in Kath’s “Bee” caravan for colouring in after her set. Kath is “really looking forward to singing for all the Tamariki in Picton!”
The Beat Girls will follow featuring hits from the 1940s to today, with local favourites Bitter End and Tres Hombres – a ZZ Top tribute band – who are ready to “rock out” keeping the energy high before The Beat Girls return to lead the countdown to midnight.
The year will capped off with a spectacular fireworks display over Picton Harbour.
“We can’t wait to celebrate good times with a musical journey from the 60’s to today, ushering in 2026 in this stunning part of Aotearoa”, said BeatGirl Andrea Sanders.
Families can enjoy the Ray White Kidzone, while plenty of food trucks will keep guests well-fed, alongside Picton’s bars, cafés and restaurants.
Unfortunately due to a lack of uptake in past years, there are no buses from Blenheim.
