
The Westrupp Cup is in Marlborough hands once again after the latest battle for the prestigious trophy was played out at the Greenacres Golf Course on 19-20 September.
The Marlborough women’s combination, under the Eastern banner, played against Central (Nelson, Totaradale), Northern (Greenacres, Motueka) and Western (Hokitika, Greymouth, Westport, Karamea).
The winning team comprised: Emily Stenhouse, Andrea Thomas (Corbett), Joanne Rainbird, Joanne Prescott, Amber Boyce and Sue Murray.
Final standings: Marlborough (Eastern) 12, Central Nelson 10.5, Northern Nelson 8, Western 5.5.

At the same time, Marlborough’s top male golfers played in the second quadrangular event for the year against Nelson, Buller/Westland and the Tasman Invitational team.
The Marlborough men’s teams performed well with good wins over the weekend but Nelson took the overall win.
Special mention goes to youngster Spencer Gregg who went unbeaten for all six matches over the two events in the senior grade.
Mark Le Compte gave the team an added thrill, scoring his first hole in one, hitting the perfect shot on the par 3 10th hole.
The teams played two matches on Saturday and one game on Sunday morning.
