Major refurbishment for Carnmore Chateau
Carnmore Chateau Marlborough is undertaking a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, with 30 guest rooms, including its two-bedroom penthouse, being upgraded. The first refurbished rooms are available from this month, with work continuing over the coming months. The project involves local contractors and suppliers, with rooms featuring vineyard landscape photography by Marlborough photographer and winemaker Kevin Judd.
A sizz-ling success
The Local Butcher in Riverlands picked up two medals at the 2026 Dunninghams Great New Zealand Sausage Competition last week, which searches for the best sausage in the country. Its Irish Pork sausage won silver, while the Lamb, Tomato, Spinach and Cheese variety took home bronze. The butcher was the only Marlborough business to receive a medal in this year’s competition.
Stitch giving textiles a new life
The Blue Door is launching 'Stitch', a new upcycling initiative aimed at giving donated textiles a second life while raising funds for the local community. The project is seeking volunteers with sewing skills, creative ideas and other expertise, as well as donations of sewing machines and equipment. Items will be repaired or transformed into new, bespoke products to be sold through The Blue Door, with proceeds supporting its community work and grants.
