Muriwai Industrial Hub was officially launched to the local business community on 29 October at Kaiaka in Westwood. The project is a joint venture between Port Marlborough and CentrePort Wellington to create a lower carbon option between Marlborough’s exporters and international markets.
It is located on SH1 and nestled in between Riverlands Estate and Cloudy Bay business park, and borders directly onto the railway.
Lot sizes on the 19.26ha site range from 1660m2 all the way up to 43,200m2 with the potential to combine lots if need be.
The zone is the last currently available industrial zone 2 land in the region, this zoning allows both light and heavy industrial services to take place within the complex.
The Muriwai name was gifted to the development by Rangitane o Wairau, Dr Peter Meihana spoke at the launch about the history of the land and signified it’s importance for crafting toki and other stone tools long before European settlement. Muriwai is described as a word for the convergence of waterways, fitting for a joint venture between the two ports.
Lots in Stages 1 and 2 of the development are currently open for expressions of interest via the team at Property Brokers Marlborough.
